Toll payment at the toll booth: signage

Thanks to clear and immediate signage, Customers approaching the station can quickly identify their desired payment method. This avoids creating confusion, slowing down traffic flow near the stations, and most importantly, significantly reduces the risk factor for sudden maneuvers and movements from one lane to another.

Toll lanes

For its sections, SAT has a total of 5 toll collection stations: Collesalvetti, Rosignano Junction and Rosignano Barrier for the closed sections, and the stations of Rosignano and Tarquinia for the semi-closed sections of Rosignano-San Pietro in Palazzi and Tarquinia-Civitavecchia.

The total number of toll lanes is 50; of these, 32 lanes for closed systems (divided into 11 entrances and 21 exits) and 18 for semi-closed systems (9 northbound and 9 southbound). During the previous year, there were no unavailabilities of toll lanes attributable to technical causes for a duration exceeding 24 hours.

Entry stations

The lanes dedicated to customers with electronic toll collection devices are equipped with signage placed above the canopy characterized by yellow background signs. All other lanes, where it is possible to collect a ticket, are indicated by signs placed at the bottom of the lane entrance.

Exit stations

Along the SAT toll lanes, there are 5 types of signs (positioned above the canopy) corresponding to the different payment options. Below is the signage related to the different payment methods, installed by SAT at all toll booths on its section:

cartello giallo The yellow background uniquely indicates dynamic toll collection through electronic toll collection devices. The sign features the "T" for Telepass and the European flag to further indicate that these lanes are dedicated only to holders of electronic toll collection devices.

cartello blu The blue color uniquely indicates payment exclusively by cards: Viacard, Credit Cards, and ATM cards. In addition to the Viacard logo, there are 2 generic cards indicating the multiplicity of accepted cards (the details of accepted Cards, illustrated below, are present on the sign placed at the bottom of the island that delimits the lane). Payment with Cards and ATM cards is facilitated by the fact that it is not necessary to enter the Pin and no commission is charged.

cartello Compared to the previous sign, the addition of the "T" and the logo with the European flag on a yellow background indicate to customers with electronic toll collection devices the possibility of using this lane as well, but warns them that it is not a dedicated lane. The blue background, in fact, indicates that these are lanes intended for payment by cards: Viacard, Credit Cards, and ATM cards.

cartello cassa automatica Automatic cash machine sign In this case, the background of the sign is white, indicating that these are lanes exclusively for cash payment. The sign features the cash symbol with the addition of a hand symbol, indicating the presence of an operator.

cartello operatore Also in this case, the white color indicates payment by cash. In the lanes marked by this type of sign, payment is made at a self-service automatic cash machine (enabled to give change). The sign features, in addition to the cash symbol, also the card logo on a blue background, indicating the possibility of payment with Viacard, Credit Cards, and ATM cards. The positioning of the card logo on the lower band of the sign indicates that this is not a lane dedicated to this payment method. The same colors, logos, and symbols defined for the station signage are also present on the indication and channeling signs placed on the gantries approaching the stations, with the aim of anticipating the message and accompanying the Customer in identifying the lane according to the chosen payment method."
